Hello everyone! Thank you for coming to have a read of our new journal, we’re very happy to have you here.

Kate here. In my pre baby life, I worked in various PR, social and marketing roles, with the role I left when I went on maternity leave being copywriting, which I loved and really miss doing! This journal is a place where I can flex that muscle and hopefully open the doors on life as a small business owner, with a touch of creativity, motherhood and probably some food along the way too!

It won’t be very SEO friendly and it will likely be a bit rambling at times, much like the 5 minute voice notes I’ve been known to send to friends… but I hope it will bring something useful to you, or at least bring a smile or two!

We’re launching it this week so we can share some amazing small businesses in our Christmas gift guides ahead of Black Friday, in the hope that, instead of buying twice as much stuff at discounted prices, we might help even one person to think twice and buy better, shop small and support independent businesses.

We’ve pledged our support to this years Colour Friday campaign, which will reach it’s peak this Friday, November 25th, but the overarching campaign it is part of, Campaign Shop Independent, runs 24/7, 365 days a year. Because supporting small businesses isn’t just something we need to do at Christmas!

This week we’ll share mini gift guides, rounding up some of our favourite small business products for even the trickiest to buy for. I’ll also share what I’ve bought for Frankie, who will be 18 months on Christmas Eve!
